11 Second Club October 2013 Ranked #24 of 158 Entries

Here is what I have been working on for the rest of October. It is still a work in progress. While I was working on this project Apple's new operating system Mavericks came out. I installed it and it was a big mistake because the activation of my Autodesk Maya wasn't supported yet. The only way to get it to work was to backup my entire hard drive and wipe it clean so i could install Snow Leopard. Basically i lost 2 days worth of work dealing with this mess.

My Advice: If you ever are going to upgrade your operating system whether its windows or mac. Make sure the programs that you use the most will be able to support that transition. If they don't I would wait about 2 to 3 moths before upgrading. CTN is around the corner so i'm going to fix this shot up.

Speed Animation 5

Note to self, SAVE often. I wanted to include some character moments along with some body mechanics in this test. I made sure to plan out my arcs and watch the spacing. I saw my friend Jason Wong work on a Columbus animation so i'll do a themed one too.

Speed Animation 2

Testing out the animation layers feature in Maya 2014. Started out with a basic walk and with the animation layers you just select a group of controls and make your adjustments. It is like photoshop layers. So my basic walk cycle was my base animation. The spine and head layer animation are overplayed which doesn't interfere with the base animation. One cool thing you can do on there layers is create very extreme pose. With that the animation layer has a "weight" option so you can set the degree of the pose like 75% or 10% like opacity. Very fun tool that everyone should try.

Completed time 2.5 hours.

Speed Animation 1

I'm trying out the new Cenk Rig. The GUI interface is very easy to use. However looking for the squash and stretch controls took some time to find.

I did a quick take to just familiarize myself with the operations of the rig. I love the flexibility of the face. The mouth, nose, and eyes are weighted so well that it brings more fleshiness and realism to the rig.

Completed time 1 hour.
